Kara Davis, danced for Atlanta Ballet, Ohio Ballet, Ballet Jörgen before moving to San Francisco in 1996.  She is a founding member of KUNST-STOFF and Janice Garrett & Dancers, both of whom she danced for 10 years. She has performed for Alex Ketley, Margaret Jenkins, Amy Raymond, Robert Moses, Pearl Ubungen, Val Caniparoli (ACT), Kathleen Hermesdorf, and in multiple San Francisco Opera productions. Along with receiving numerous Isadora Duncan nominations for her ensemble work, she was awarded an "Izzie" in 2003 for "Outstanding Achievement in Individual Performance" and was SF Chronicle dance critic Rachel Howard's pick for 2005's MVP.  Since co-founding project agora with Bliss Kohlmyer Dowman in 2006, her choreography has been shown at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Bates Dance Festival, San Francisco International Arts Festival, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Kennedy Center (ACDFA Nationals 2009), Z Space, ODC Theater, Dance Mission, Headlands Center for The Arts, SF MOMA, Arizona State University, and University of South Florida. Along with Katie Faulkner, Manuelito Biag, and Alex Ketley she won an "Izzie" for "Best Choreography" in 2012 for their collaboration Terra Incognita, Revisited. She has been on faculty at Alonzo King's LINES Ballet Pre-Professional, Summer Intensive, & BFA programs since 2005 and has taught at Stanford, UC Berkeley, San Jose State University, Mills College, the Guangdong Modern Dance Academy in Guang Zhou, China, and the Cairo Opera House in Cairo, Egypt. She received her MFA in Dance from Hollins University in 2014.
